Do You Enjoy Reading?

  • Would you like to share what you have read with others?
  • Would you like to read more but don’t know where to start, or feel there isn’t enough time to read?

North Lincolnshire Libraries, in partnership with the Carers’ Support Centre, is hoping to set up a Carer Group with a focus on reading.

It is likely that the venue would be Riddings Library in Scunthorpe and/or the Carers’ Support Centre in Brigg.  We would like to speak to any Carers who might be interested in the group, to get more ideas about how it could be run.

If you are unable to leave the person you care for, funding and support is available to help you organise alternative care. Travel costs may also be met.

For more information, to make suggestions, or to register your interest, please contact Kim Kenyon at North Lincolnshire Central Library on 01724 860161.

Home Library Service

The Home Library Service (provided by North Lincolnshire Libraries & Information Services) is a free service to those people who can’t get out and about or are unable to use their local library for any reason, but still have a need for information and entertainment.

If this applies to you, the Home Library Service can help. Volunteers deliver direct to the elderly, disabled and Carers who are unable to leave the person they care for.

All volunteers have been through the North Lincolnshire Council recruitment procedure and are guided by library staff in choosing books for other people.

You can borrow a range of fiction and non-fiction books, books in large print, talking books on CD, tape or MP3 and music on CD.

You and your volunteer(s) will decide between you how often you will receive visits, usually not less than once a month.

If you think this service could help you contact Jane Carnie on 01724 860161. Jane will contact you and arrange a date and time to visit and explain the service in more detail and, if you are eligible, discuss your needs.
