Information for Professionals & Employers

Carers are often unaware of the support available to them. If a Carer knows where to get information and support, they are more likely to seek advice in advance of a future crisis.

Caring can be difficult.  It can limit opportunities. For example, many carers adjust their working lives, with some reducing hours or missing career progression to maintain support for family members.  Carers are also not exempt from their own health concerns and day-to-day worries.

Access to the right support makes a clear difference. Breaks, flexible working, and practical services help carers maintain balance, stay in work, and protect their wellbeing.

With continued recognition and accessible support, unpaid carers can sustain both their own wellbeing, employment and the essential care they provide.

As an employer, should you have any questions on how you can support Carers in your organisation, please contact us on 01652 650585.

Carers' Support Service logo. The Carers' Support Service was established in 1989. The logo represents people supporting one another.

Supporting Carers not only supports them.  It also reduces admission and readmission of the cared for person into hospital, and significantly delays the need for the person being cared for to go into residential care.

GPs, Healthcare Professionals and other services and organisations are the people most likely to come into contact with a Carer. Carers have the health of the person they care for to manage as well as their own. It’s easy to refer a carer, simply click here

Carers’ Week 2022 Report

Impact of Caring

Many carers balance work, finances, and wellbeing alongside their caring role, which can create sustained pressure over time. As a result, some carers experience reduced health and wellbeing, with one in five reporting poor physical health and nearly a third reporting poor mental health.
