Care Worker Awards


Ruth Jauncey has won the Respect Carers' Award for North Lincolnshire, which recognises the important work undertaken by care workers in the community. Charlotte Medley was the runner up. Ruth and Charlotte were presented with their awards by Gordon Tulley of the Dying Matters Coalition and Respect Green Burials.

Ruth and Charlotte were put forward for the award in recognition of the excellence of their caring work. They were two of 35 nominees who work as Personal Support Assistants for the Carers' Support Centre. Charlotte Medley lives in Keadby and covers North Scunthorpe and Ruth Jauncey lives in Ulceby and covers Barton and villages.

At the nominations, they were presented with a special first addition signed copy of a new book written by a local professional journalist and care campaigner Jenny Walton called "Words of Comfort, Words of Farewell". The book is about finding suitable and comforting words for a funeral service, or any farewell event, when someone you love has died.
