The Carers’ Support Service supports Carers for two years from the end of their caring role.

Most services are available, so please read through the other areas of our website to find out more about the support we provide.

If you would like to speak to someone about any of our support, please give us a call on 01472 242277. We can register you completely free if you are not already registered, and all of the support we provide is free of charge.

When Someone Dies – Bereavement Booklet

Cruse Bereavement Services
Support, advice and information to children, young people and adults. Services are free of charge and support anyone who has been bereaved wherever or however the death has occurred. You can leave a message on the 24-hour helpline and Cruse will get back to you, usually within 24 hours. If you would like to speak to someone in person, the Scunthorpe openline is staffed at the following times: Openline 01724 281178, Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings 9 – 11 am, Tuesday afternoons 4.30 – 6.30 pm.

Dying Matters
Dying Matters is a coalition of 32,000 members across England and Wales which aims to help people talk more openly about dying, death and bereavement, and to make plans for the end of life. Visit the website and select ‘Find Me Help’ to search for local member organisations.

Care Plus Group
A care organisation working in communities across North East Lincolnshire. Care Plus is a social business that provides adult health and social care services to help improve people’s health and wellbeing and enrich people’s lives.

Macmillan Palliative Care Team
The Macmillan Specialist Palliative Care Team is available to patients, Carers and professionals across all care settings throughout North East Lincolnshire. The multi-professional team is made up of specialist nurses, a specialist social worker, GPs and a welfare benefits advisor.

The aim of the team is to work in partnership with the multi-professional health and social care teams for patients with identified complex and/or specialist palliative care need.

St Andrews Hospice
St Andrews offer free palliative care to anyone over the age of 18 with any progressive life-limiting illness. They are independent of the NHS but work with healthcare organisations. Most patients live in North East Lincolnshire but people also come from other areas. Anyone can refer – the patient, their family or GP, the community nurse, a consultant and so on – in writing, by telephone or by visiting.
