Training for Carers

The Carers’ Support Service offers a range of training to help you cope with and manage your caring role.

First Aid Training and Looking After Your Back workshops run throughout the year giving Carers the skills and knowledge to deal with an emergency situation, and information and advice on helping the person you care for move about safely without hurting your own back.

Starting on the 25th June  – We are hosting the popular course Understanding Dementia – A four session course to learn what it means to have Dementia – What Dementia is – How it affects people – See below.

The training we provide very much depends on what you ask us for. We have a variety of training and workshops available all year round. You are also able to access training provided by Focus Independent Adult Social work absolutely free.

Roles of a funeral director

Roles of a Funeral Director – To come in the autumn 2019.

This talk and question and answer session is a sensitive and gentle look at what a funeral director does – the things they need to do when someone has died, but the session also looks at the history of the funeral director – how the high street funeral parlour came into being, and the changes through the ages. Understanding Dementia

This long awaited course is taking place at the Carers Support Centre in Grimsby, Town Hall Square DN31 1HY from 2.00pm until 5.00pm each week for four weeks. These free workshops are designed with carers in mid  – so you can develop a good understanding of dementia and gain useful information to benefit you and the person you care for.

4 sessions on Tuesdays

  • 9th July 2019—The ageing senses & stages of dementia
  • 16th July 2019—Communication & Carer Coping Strategies
